And I haven't even finished with the interior. I was thinking I could have bought a restored sport with the money I have spent. I prefer it like this though as I know things are done properly.
Talking of interior, has anyone retrimmed the door cards and centre console ?

Re retrimming, the people to speak to with plenty of experience with E30s are B Trim in North London. Top work, fair pricing. You get what you pay for, as with everything in life.elan wrote:Yep, quite a bit nowGert_8 wrote:I was about to say the same thing. As Pete has mentioned, B Trim. This will be stunning when it's finished.

This is the car I went to see in Croydon, decided not to purchase as it was too much work for me, but hats off to you for taking it on, this is a lovely car, well done.

That's interesting as the mechanic said that most people will walk away as the bodywork was in pieces! Luckily the body was solid. There were some surprises along the way like the damaged clutch, ceased brakes, leaking power steering...320iConvertible wrote:This is the car I went to see in Croydon, decided not to purchase as it was too much work for me, but hats off to you for taking it on, this is a lovely car, well done.
I only took on the project after the garage agreed to do the work
Link to the Royalratch. Resto thread, if he did get one done it will probably be in there.

Ratch had his leather work done by B-Trim.
The MOT is done but the interior is not fully put back together and still some bodywork to complete. I drove the car for the first time and the sound is awesome and the exhaust makes a big difference. The mechanic was pretty impressed too
The only negative was the gear throw is long especially after jumping out of the M3!
I have been in touch with Birds. I am going to book it in for a tune up and get their Hartge short shift kit fitted (including shift linkage repair kit). Has anyone had this done or driven one?

£100 spent at your dealership will buy all the gear linkage parts that are susceptible to wear , a Z3 shift lever and the always leaking selector seal. An hour or so of swearing by your mechanic will have it all fitted.
Kevin is a top bloke but £500+ for a refreshed gear linkage is a bit stripey !

Petes right the z3 item will be just as good and will give you a big chunk of cash towards the leather console. Ratch points towards north of £350 for the trim work but don't know how old that price is.

Speak to M3SAM. He just had a whole interior done including door cards and consoles.
Thanks for the link to Ratch. The centre console look great in leather. Black leather with red stitching might work on mine
The car will go to Birds anyway to get the Hartge engine tuned and serviced as they know these engines best. I will speak to the mechanic regarding the z3 items.
I am glad I created a build thread, you guys are full of good info.

One more update, the paintwork is almost complete but apprently need trims, polishing/waxing and the finishing touches. Not long before the bodywork is done and I can start driving it (albeit with unfinished interior)!
What do you guys think of the wheels? I am thinking of putting it back to original silver colour?

I like the colour of the wheels as they are, goes with the colour of the car.

I'd have to see it with caps on to make my mind up they look abit like there covered in brake dust at the minute. The rest looks lush though!

The bodyshop said the same but I thought silver would make a better contrast to black?Speedtouch wrote:Me too.
Unfortunetly it is covered in a lot of dust from when the bodywork was being prepared! I will give it a good clean when its back.appletree wrote:I'd have to see it with caps on to make my mind up they look abit like there covered in brake dust at the minute. The rest looks lush though!
I saw your build thread, very impressive. If only I could do the work like you
Thanks Fal, it's strange seeing those pics as I have tried to imagine how my car will look and that's pretty much spot on, even down to the yellow indicators!Fal_325i wrote:Good work there fella, this is going to look like this when finished:-

So much Hartge win in this thread!
