Dave, the TPS is on its way. If it wasn't this time of year I would say it would be with you Monday or Tuesday, but you can't tell.

Looking good other than that :D

Cheers guys.

No worries Byron, I'm not off work until 07:00 Crimbo morning so chances of me getting the tools out this week are slim.

Got a shinny new 150 piece Halfords Pro socket set to christen though, impulse buy for a bargain £80 8)

Well with the weather beginning to turn and the salt hopefully washing off the roads I thought I'd best get back on this. Got a few little jobs done today with the aim to get it spun up on the starter with the plugs out and now fuel, with that done and plenty of oil around the engine I decided to give it a go.........................

Didn't fire straight away, had no fuel or spark. After doing all the tests and finding nothing wrong it turned out to be because I hadn't put the black case back on the ECU plug and it wasn't sitting on the ECU tight enough :D.

Sounds like it needs to tappets redoing which Danhad told me would probably need to be done again so no surprise. It found an idle around 1500rpm before I turned it off so need to find whats causing that, fingers crossed it's just the TB butterfly not being fully closed but it's unlikely to be that simple.

Finally stopped getting distracted by anything and everything and we're now up and running and ready for the trip to the bodyshop for the respray tomorrow

Had a few dramas getting the coolant bled through but all sorted now and the engine has had it's 10 mile running in drive. It's still a bit tappety but I'm not sure whether that's being highlighted more by the manifold, is the refurbed injectors or I need to do the valve clearances again.

Looking very much like a drifcock at the moment............

Really hope the suspension settles lower than it currently is!

Good work Kedge.

What was the cure for the coolant bleed in the end?

I ended up jacking the front end as high as possible and then took the top hose off the thermostat housing and filled that with coolant and ran it up. Quickly got water coming out the bleed nipple on the rad, already had it coming out of the thermostat housing bleed nipple.

Another lesson learnt, don't waste your time with old fuel pumps, mine died within a couple of miles of the first drive so borrowed Fergs spare, that lasted around 11 miles, had to get towed the last mile to the body shop!

Now have a new one fitted thanks to Matt at ECP, tight sods at Bosch only give you the pump unit itself now so you have to take your old one apart.

Serves you right for picking a body shop 12 miles away :)

Save the cage from the spare then please mate

At long long last the old dog is painted and as of today MOT'd. Still needs loads of trim putting back on but it is starting to look like a car again. Rear bumper is still sat in my living room as annoyingly the rear mount were slightly bent and the bumper fitting kit didn't come with mounts, unlike the front kit.

Don't worry, the front spoiler screws are temporary, waiting on another big delivery of new bits :D

On the way to the MOT it felt like the brakes were starting to bind a little, yet on the rollers the brakes were spot on and there was no hint of it on the way back so will have to keep my eyes on that.
Engine feels like it really pulls well put still not really given it the full beans yet. Still sounding quite tappity, \need to do a stethoscope test to see where that's coming from, wondering whether its the refurbed injectors and also being made to sound worse thanks to the BTB, will redo the valve clearances again as well. It also stalled a couple of times on the way to the MOT instead of idling and took a good bit of cranking to get it going once warm a couple of times, so a few niggles there that need working through.

Cheers guys, bloody typical it's so close to being finished at this time of year. If October is looking decent weather wise I might make use of the new tax system and run it a little to see what the snagging list will be like.

Rear bumper ends cars are just pushed on at the moment, what is the proper way of attaching them to the body as all that is left in the rear bumper fitting kit is some different length hex head screws and a short length of what looks like fuel hose. :?

Finally got the underdash panel ordered, love the fact you can buy a new one of these for similar money to what traders want for a tired old one 8)

Bumper ends are held on by bolts through the rear arch Dave, at least that's how I've seen them.
