random gearbox issue?

Had a peculiar issue other day was doing a spot of spirited driving 2hrs ish on country roads and freeway pretty much in 5th gear all the way which was on the day before got to destination okay,

Then following afternoon headed back home, 2mins in i changed gear normally and clutch was depressed fully heard a very loud crunch and difficulty selecting second so i aborted and went for 3rd.

at the lights built up speed in first... i.e planted my foot to the floor, went into second and the rear end essentially locked up completely causing it to skid along and stop?

i left it for a while and after 20 mins or so it was fine?

Checked for oil leaks lately?
sounds like it's either low on oil or has none

17mm hex bolt on side of gearbox to check, if its not level with the drain hole there is not enough..
17mm hex bolt on underside towards the rear to drain.
Very easy to change gearbox oil if the "beer bong" style in the car is used...
