My manual crank handle for my sunroof wont go completely in. I can get it half way on and still manage to open the sunroof with it but the crank assembly will not hold itself on. I picked up a second crank handle from a wrecking car but it has the same problem. Has anyone else had this problem or know anything about how to fix it.

Any answer would be helpful, Thanks :D

The main reason for that off the top of my head would be the end of the crank has been damaged. I believe it's shaped to slide into the top half of the crank handle. So if two handles wont fit then it would point to the crank itself.

Check for any burred edges or evidence of any impacts.

The problem will be associated with an extremely thin rim on a circlip groove at the back of the handle, which breaks away with use and/or rough handling. The version fitted to the previous 3 series fits, and is of a better design, but good luck finding one of those in a scrapyard these days.
