Why not try something from the 'other side', such as a Mercedes 190E Cosworth, or even the epic 500E?

A 500E is a very serious car and its got more torque then an E34 M5 can dream of. I think there even cooler then an M5. No manual thoughSpeedtouch wrote:Why not try something from the 'other side', such as a Mercedes 190E Cosworth, or even the epic 500E?

I dont tickle the throttle, all the power is used properly as and when needed. All this 20+ mpg from a V8 is just nonsense to me, same as when I was dailying the E34 525i there is talk all over the net of 30+mpg but in reality I used to average 20, never ever saw above 25
Im sure the clocks are showing 16mpg which is a petrol estimate, but f**k it, you dont buy a V8 for fuel economy

As a side note, the N62 is supposed to be a lot more fuel efficient so I sort of aspire to one even though it would have to be an E60 Wagon, its also comes as a B48 which is much more interesting than the MPG figures

+1.
As romantic as the notion of a manual box is, there's a reason only 3 buyers ever went for DIY. It's a pain in the arse.
E60 though?
And N62?

I know Andy, its pretty much inevitable though, it wont be long before all the E39 shite is complete and utter scrap, so there wont be much choice then, unless you can recommend anything else? I dont want an E36 BTW
I just had 4 Bilstein dampers turn up today for the E39 wagon, 90k and the original are well and truly shagged

Benz E Class wagon, 2003 onwards. The W211 is a much better car than the E60.

I'm down to 2 choices, the current favourite the red 3.6 saloon. Or today a late M reg Avus blue 6 speed saloon has come into the mix but i've not seen it yet.

The Anusblau 6 speed is the better investment - the last of the proper hand built cars.
