hmm... do e30s have an Idle Control Valve? If not then it could still be a hole in an air pipe? That would make it cut out unless revs where high and effect the idle. If I'm wrong about the hole it still won't take much time to check.
hiya thanks everyone, yes fuel pump is definately new.i filled the tank up when i picked her up from the garage, but it cut out on 1/2 a tank, hasn't happend since the two times i mentioned above. have to add i'm not a mechanic, and you know whet bulls.hit garages feed females sooo.... in all honesty i don't think there was anything wrong with the immobilizer, i ended up paying £350 for all the work, petrol pump and an auto electrician to sort out immobilizer, skanked but what can i do

Fuel filter changed recently? Or with the pump?
Cured my 318i a few years back when I had a lack of power then a big serge of it!
Build up of crud at the bottom of the tank plus running the fuel very low could cause a blockage or low flow resulting in running problems...
You Could check the air intake pipes big and small on the passenger side of the engine bay with brake cleaner, if there's a leak the engine revs rise, think there is something about it in Zone wiki.......

Check the connection to the fuel pump; perhaps the garage didn't fit it securely enough...

Also check the fuel pump relay; try swapping it with a known good or new one.
