Wondered how long this thread would run before the inevitable 'consider swapping out the 1800 for a 6-pot!' ;-)

I'm with povertyspec ... the M40 engine revs nicely, sounds good. If you have such a nice original car, then there's value these days in keeping it that way. So many 318i E30s are now long gone ... scrapped or converted. Please keep yours as it is!

I am of course biased, having a very low mileage Alpine White 1991 318i Convertible, with the grey check interior and shadowline trim. I wouldn't ever contemplate swapping out the engine.

Love your car, and will watch the project with interest.

^The old turd has been finished and on the road for the last month - I've just been too busy enjoying it to update the thread. :) I'm happy with the m40 to be honest as I drive like a grandad in this motor.

Anyway here's the last of the pics.

Billies and Eibachs were fitted and then it was off to the MOT centre.

Unfortunately the cambelt tensioner bolt snapped so had to get a full kit rather than just changing the belt. More unplanned for £££ but probably a good thing really.

MOT passed with a bit of wedging of the headlights required due to the adjusters being donald ducked.

Wheels back from the refurbers:

So time for some new boots - went for Hankooks

Looking good with the centre caps on

and finally fitted

Just time for an interior valet before the old girl hits the road

This can be sorted by screwing the inner threaded rod on the adjusters out a couple of turns.

I have absolutely no idea as I couldnt be at the workshop whilst my mate did it. The finish is good though. I can get some details next week as I've got to go and pay him :P

thanks Ben. I've got a few electrical issues to sort so I'll add that to the list of things to be done when it's off the road for winter.

Looks stunning ... really original, top quality finish. Makes me think I need a iS lip on my front spoiler too! I really need to work out how to post photos, as nobody has seen my car yet!
