Morning all,
I test drove an 325i E30 yesterday and apart from the odd scuff, which is fine due to the age, my only concern was that when I put the steering wheel on a full lock, in both directions, I could hear a noise, almost like something catching, and a very faint feedback through the steering wheel. Also the cambelt was changed 10,000 miles ago but that was 8 years ago, will this need changing again? Any thoughts/advice?

Cambelt is a 3 year/30k mile service item.

Bit of noise on full lock is probably the power steering pump.

Steering pump is supposed to complain on full lock. This is the reason is states in the handbook that full lock should never be held for more than a few seconds. Any light rubbing noise ios probably the tyres touching the arch liner at the inside front. This is caused by sloppy installation of the liner.
Eight year old cambelt?? Step away from the car, and don't start it until it's been changed!!
