sent my e30 325i flywheel off today to be machined and lightened a bit for my 328i. il get some pics up once its back on Saturday!
hope iv had it machined in the right places.... didn't realy know what I was asking for when I took it in, just pointed at it and said take some off there where its meaty lol. its amazing iv made it this far given how clueless I am about all this.

oh yeah and iv already lost my marquee to the wind lol. note to self, :always tie them down and don't rely on pegs. had to go next door and identify the thing like a bloody corpse in a morgue. it is truly dead.... "yep.... its one of mine" :violin: it was laying there all ripped twisted mangled and snapped. FFS

I've had my Touring stored in a poly tunnel for 3 years, sadly the recent winds demolished them. One bit of advise Mart, get your Gazebo tethered down, as believe me, trying to do it in a gale is far from fun

Also, keep it well aired when not windy, the humidity can build up a lot in these "tent" type structures.

I'll be relpacing my poly tunnels soon hopefully.

Cracking build too 8)

Great build, I'm looking to do the same build soon. Wouldn't mind coming to look at this as I'm based in leicester. I'll be using my e92 m3 as my daily and my build for track etc.

Unless you want to sell yours at some point? :)

Just read through this whole thread. WOW! kudos to you brother thats some awesome work! i now have a pre facelift e30 316 and want to build a similar m3 rep to yours. but with m5x turbo motor. been fantastic reading and look forward to seeing more progress on this, i am considering buying steel quarters and wings to avoid all the fibreglassing. incredible work buddy. will be in touch with you when i start mine for tips and advice. i have been playing with e21's for the past 8-9 years this is my first e30.

Fantastic thread and a great inspiration, I've got a tacky M3 rep I plan on stripping down and working from ground up to make it look the real deal with an S54 swap. Amazing build and outstanding effort on your part, will be watching this eagerly for updates!

as for viewing it, 1 im not happy with people learning where exactly i keep it, no offence though. and 2 my boss would be pissed if i just started inviting people down to the yard who he doesnt know. but im always happy to help any other way i can, when its finished youl get to see properly ;-)

great thread,im starting one of these soon but not buying the car till iv got all the bits, out of intrest where did you source the metal C piller, and interiar trims and glass or where they ebay find?plus again looks real smart, lol have u flat an polished yet??iv just spent about a week flat polishing a truck i painted in january an omfg its like working glass rock hard!!

my advice is start the build and buy the bits as you go along...
some parts are so rare and hard to come accross, iv used all e30 related forums in uk and the states. silly things like parcel shelf extention and c pillar interior covers and that random bit of trim that goes over the roof where the back window extention joins original roof was a bloody hard one to find. some bits like the rear window screen believe it or not can still be bought from a bmw main dealer along with the trim that goes around it, think its somthing like £350 all in. trust me iv tried to find a second hand one worldwide.... impossible.
the c pillar extention was an ebay find. you can buy fiber glass ones but dont do it, its a main structual part so you need it to be steel. i paid £500 for mine and that was cheap. iv seen them go for £1500 on ebay. boot lid and spoiler is genuine. theres so many fiddly bits you need to get to do a good job that youl never start the project if your waiting to have all the bits.
iv not really touched my project for about a year now as my funds are needed for other things but il eventually get back onto it. still need to flat n polish it but as its moved about so much with moving and storage, it really could do with a respray.
so many people say they are going to do this build too but so far iv not seen 1. prove me wrong mate as id love to see some competition :-)

yeah i no what u mean, but i own a bodyshop and i havent got the space to dump a car for too long so finding the parts first is a must then i can take a few weeks out and build it in one hit,as for them alusive parts its all about anything c piller related,as everything else seems very easy to source,i am considering a grp c piller off a guy who builds them for racing and the interia trims can be supplied in grp as well as a poly rear window, the wings and quaterss im getting from bmw plus the rear quarter inner tubs .
i must say when i first went for this plan for a build i was shocked as to how many parts of the car are differnt,it was only reading this thread i realized the front indicaters where different!!

oh an trust me you will have some compatition lol iv just got some catching up todo
