quick question, my car has died on me, not battery, not starter motor, thinking either fuel pump or relay, if i take the relay out of my 318i will it work in the 318is?

You should be able to hear the fuel pump prime itself when you switch the electrics on from within the cab of the car. From what I remember you should also be able to hear the relay click (if it's working) when switching on the electrics stand outside of the car when doing so with the bonnet up so you can hear.
I'm sure all of this is on wiki pages somewhere..
EDIT.... This should help if you haven't already checked...

thanks peeps
, spoke to the old owner not long ago, it's had new lines, relay and pump 3 weeks ago but he reckons it may be a loose connection on the fuel pump, waiting on the garage to get it towed. i aint touching it, i'd prob end up creating a disaster
