Hi all. I've been offered a 1994 320 auto more door against my touring project.

It'll come with a years MOT and although it appears to have been lowered otherwise it looks standard, mileage shows 96k.

Rear arches are a bit grotty and the black paint on the sills has faded to grey, otherwise it looks presentable. Is there any thing else rust wise I should look for?

Seller says these have a chain driven cam, is this right? Any thing else mechanically I need to check?

All I want to do is to be able to sell this on for at least £400 however despite a long MOT I guess this is about the least desirable E36 spec so it won't be worth much.

Yep, it will be a chain driven M50.

They're not too bad with the slushbox in the E36 body. Not fast, but smooth with enough grunt to get out of its own way.

Rust? Its 20 years old now so check everywhere. Rear arches are nearly always rotten now. Check the sills, front wings and the panel between the bootlid and rear bumper is another common casualty. If the jacking point covers in the sills are MIA you can find all kinds of unpleasantness.

E36s in general are woth s0d all nowadays. :(

A shame as a good one is a more robust motor than an E46 IMO.

^As above.

Least desirable model (thirsty 2.0 litre auto with performance stunting slush box).

Some E36s are gathering value, especially 328s (Sport or otherwise). The rubbish examples become drift slags or scrap metal and good ones are increasingly hard to find.

Would expect easily over £500 for your E36 especially if decent MoT.

Stew, are you looking to swap the touring for this in the search for an easier sale? If so, be prepared for either a long wait or a spell of dealing with some weidos?

As above, probably one of the least desirable 36's, it's a 94 and if the arches are grotty, so will the jacking points.

The sills were originally grey on many of these.
