Mapping of M52

Went up on the rolling road at Gaydon on yesterday, got a horrible read out and below standard read out for bhp-181.

This was very disappointing considering my car is fitted with a full Stainless Vortex system, obviously all the usual mods M50 manifold etc. On the plus side the exhaust sounded excellent.

The graph also showed that my cars fueling is all over the place, I think a remap is needed and hopefully this is the reason that the power figure is so bad!

Anyone know a trusted company that have mapped m52's before preferably in and around London including home counties.

You would only need a remap if the ecu is not the right one for the car.

Otherwise I would be checking all your sensors.

Do you have an M52 loom and ECU? Or is it a half M50 lash up?

Below is what I have been told is in the car

-Remapped OE OBD1 E36 ECU
-Modified OE wiring loom to suit E30 installation

have you got a pic? i thought m50's were odb1 and m52 odb2

Ignore the OBD nonsense. If its a Bosch ECU it will be from an M50, if its a Siemens ECU it will be M52
The M52 stuff is what you want to run your engine properly, I wouldnt for one minute believe that your ECU has been remapped if its only putting out 181hp

Are you 100% sure that it is a 2.8 engine?

Check the type number on a flat surface down near the LH engine mount arm. A 2.8 should start 28.

why? I have driven some cars mapped there and they went very well especially compared to other maps.

Not even started it yet it should be at the stage of putting in the car by now but other commitments have been in the way

Once its done i'll be going to see them

It should only take a picture of the shape of the inside of the maf sensor plug to say what ECU it is. The Siemens and the Bosch are different, that and a M50 uses a hot wire and the M50TU uses a hot film.

Thus: M50 = Bosch + Hot wire Maf
M50TU = Bosch + Hot Film Maf
M52 = Siemens + single vanos
M52TU = Siemens + double vanos.

Provided the right loom has been used with the right ECU! For which there is no guarantee, but it would at least identify the loom.

I checked the ECU and it's a siemens and I definitely have single vanos. I changed the air mass meter and think I have found the problem, now just need to go back on the rollers, someone suggested bw tune but someone says they are crap, I don't know where to go!!

In which case you should have EWS as well (or at lease an ews delete chip)

The MAF sensors for the later cars are sort of interchangeable, as in they all fit the plug but don't all give the same readings, VERY worthwhile making sure you have the right MAF for the ECU/Tune.
