To cut long story short
had few vibration issues before so changed gearbox mounts and quibo (rubber donut) and it was running all sweet
while I was there i swapped the diff with a welded one
Last night as I am trying to pull out the car stopped moving
Gear in, engine revving but car doesnt move !!
Going to look into it tonight but can one give headups for anything to check ?
Much Appreciated

I know a lot about cars. I can look at a car's headlights and tell you exactly which way it's coming

Perhaps your welded diff broke? How does the clutch pedal feel? You can normally tell by the 'springy' action of the diaphragm felt through the pedal if the clutch is working or not.

Hmmm good point Mate
the chap who welded insisted on not putting a plate and just strongly welded the 4 points on each side with a big welder
But I always thought if the welded broke then it goes back to normal diff ?

Only one way to find out; jack up the back of the car, support it on axle stands, and with the car in neutral, crawl under and turn the propshaft, and see if the rear wheels rotate in unison...

You really don't know much about mechanical devices, do you!E30-Addict wrote:But I always thought if the welded broke then it goes back to normal diff ?
Check that one of the output shafts hasn't popped out slightly (held in with a snap ring). Happened to me once, just before I was about to take the car on a 3000 mile trip!

Unfortunately not
I will check that, if that was the case then I take it the diff is still good ? just push it back in ?
