I am currently running various pipes using both vacuum entry points just after MAF on underside rubber boot is that correct? My other rubber boot from another 318is has 1 of them blanked off???

I think there were quite a few different setups for the M42 vacuum and cooling pipes. Googling info on the throttle body heater delete and 'mess under the intake' should help you. M42 club is pretty useful.

You can have a mass cull of coolant and air pipes around the inlet side of a M42.
The small coolant pipes can be replaced by a single bypass pipe from one end to the other, or both end connections just blanked off, and all that need remain of the air pipes is a simple pipe from the cam box breather to one of the connections on the big air pipe, a simple pipe from the other connection in the big pipe to the idle valve, plus the pipe to the brake servo valve.
Can anyone suggest a reason for those siamesed pipes that BMW fitted?

amazing links guys all stripped down & done even made original coolant pipe work (leaks pending lol) & looks so much cleaner around inlet plus lost the rough idle
