I've just refilled the cooling system and I'm not sure if I've bled it well enough, I started the car then opened the bleed valve and let out what seemed to be a mixture of air then coolant and then air then coolant. I ran the car for about 10 min then switched it off, I then topped up the fluid. Is there anything else I need to do or is it O.K to take for a drive and will any remaining air find its way to the header tank, its the first time I've had to bleed the system so I'm a bit unsure

as long as the car was on fairly level ground that should be fine.
if you want to be sure everything is happy, drive with the heater on full whack to start with. if the heater can sustain hot air flow it means the coolant's being pumped round properly.

The important thing to do is to monitor the heater output and temperature gauge when you start the engine from cold for the first time.
If warm air starts to come from the heater, then all is well.
Expect the coolant level in the tank to drop slightly for anything up to a week.
