The drivers front window is a bit odd. Its been replaced before as its bolted in, but if you have the window halfway down i can pull the glass up and down a good inch!
When you wind the window up fully the whole door flexes out, dab the button down and it all moves back in. Am i right to think the regulator is a bit saggy, play in the motor or both?
I get an annoying light rattle from this area going over bumps that is an irritant as its about the only interior sqweek i've got, would be nice to sort
flexing window regulator?

Could be the mech as they crack and flex, also check the white plastic blocks where the mech attaches to the glass as they go brittle and break up

Lucky it's been changed before Si. Those rivets are bastards to drill out!!
I've never seen one crack but they do wear drastically on the teeth and that makes it able to pull the window up and down. That's why you get the flexing of the door as it's trying to take up the slack. Shortly after, you get the issue where the window stops half way and that horrible chattering or grinding occurs.
As it's bolted in, it's a simple job to whip it out and check the state of the teeth. Any wear will be evident. But also make sure it's bolted in exactly the right position or not loose on one of the bolts. As this will cause flexing as well I would think. Those white blocks also will need checking but that normally causes the window to go up pissed and it'll stop and go back down as it detects an obstruction.
I'm right out of saloon / touring regs mate or you could borrow one to try. I have an iS coupe in but that has the passengers stopping and dropping issue and the drivers window don't work at all.

Could be a cheapo ECP regulator made from recycled kitkat wrappers. Genuine BMW ones are about 80 quid.
