driving in my 325i sport yesterday and it just cut out.
Thought it was the fuel pump as it wasn't pumping linked relay out and it pumps take link off no pump noise or pumping of fuel.
I have tested the relays and all are ok
Also the car is not sparking any ideas anyone
Thanks in advance cheers

All fuses intact? I know there is at least one for the DME.
Crank sensor ok?

It's either the DME relay or the CPS. Try bridging the DME relay just like you did for the fuel relay, and if that doesn't start the car then get a replacement CPS on order.

Sounds like a duff coil then, or bad engine to body earth strap, maybe...

Just because you fitted a new CPS doesn't mean it hasn't failed already. In all likelihood you've been sent a duff part, or bought a cheap one to start with.
Other option is that you fitted it incorrectly and the fan belt has rubbed through the wire, or you didn't plug it in tight enough and it's worked itself loose.
Disconnect it and confirm that you get a reading of about 540 ohms across the pins.

Check that the water pump pulley hasn't destroyed the lead from your new CPS. Yours wouldn't be the first to only last a few hours because it hadn't been fitted properly behind the pulley.
There are NO fuses in any feed to the engine/DME, unless you count the one that is fitted next to the battery only on cars with the battery in the rear.

if the cps has been damaged would it cut out the fuel pump?

"Getting a reading of approx 540 Ohms does not mean that the CPS is in working condition. However, NOT getting a reading means that the CPS is broken, and will need to be replaced. "

Yet again guys thanks for all the help got a very good used bmw cps of magpie this morning went and collected it this morning fitted it and straight back to life running great sound like its better on tick over before that might of sorted the tick over out.
The cps i had fitted was 3 weeks old do you think i will get a refund i will not be fitting another after market part. It took me nearly 2 days with breaking down and towing it home testing all the electrics on a part that's 3 weeks old its shocking. without the help from the forum god knows when i would have thought of testing a 3 week old part.
Yet aging guys thanks
