Hi All

I am trying to value a car for a friend whose husband has just passed away. The car was his pride and joy. He bought it effectively from new (dealer pre reg). It is a 325i SE with the following spec and options

Colour (non original) Black (not metallic)
Seats Silver Cloth
Options -
Cross Spoke Alloys 7Jx15
M Technic Sports Suspension

mileage 91,000 miles
car is tax tested etc with good tyres etc, can supply photos etc.
Bodywork in very good condition, interior again in really good condition.

Any guide to value would be appreciated.

Without photos, anywhere from 500 to 5000. You say "really good" but a single rust bubble in the wrong place will knock hundreds off the value.

And it's a two-door sedan, not a coupe.

Welcome to the Zone! All depends on the quality of the paintwork - most buyers paying top dollar will probably want original paint/colour.

I would say between £2,500-£3,000 as a guide price.

I saw a price guide for e30s in octane magazine
Top E30s Except 325i sports, 325iconvertibles, M3s fetch £5k for "excellent condition"
The other models are higher prices for excellent condition.

Thanks for your comments, sort of confirms our thoughts. the car was put on consignment with a dealer last year and was offered at £6k and attracted a £5k offer which was turned down at the time, so suspect around that is likely to be something to aim for this time.

Yes around that
Low owner low mileage FSH or even better FBMWSH in excellent condition command biggest premiums

What was the reason for a colour change? Accident damage? And is it a complete paint job I.e under the bonnet, door shuts etc.

A colour change may indicate something to hide and has a huge impact on resale prices.

Hi

Yes, manual. respray was pure change of colour preference from metallic black to plain black, ie no accident damage and no rust repair etc. The respray was professional and had seals removed etc.

Amusing reply, though not entirely worthless I think as I only asked for indication and how often do pics not tell the whole story.....

I will sort some pics tomorrow, though car is a little dusty as has been in garage for a month or two.

That's what I was thinking. People paying £5K will want a pristine one with original paint, or a 'higher' spec, e.g, Sport model.

Hi All

Ok, cannot find out how to include an image in this thread, other than external link. I have uploaded some photos to my gallery, but unable to see how I view that.... bit frustrated here with the forum's software, but guess that is normal for new member....

If someone can post link to my gallery that would be useful!

Looks very smart - reminds me of my 325iSE, which was also straight black. 8) GLWS...
