Hi just started my 1988 325i touring after 6 weeks being away & she fired up ok except massive smell of petrol under the bonnet,
i noticed fuel pouring out of a split in the rubber hose, so I've removed that pipe & noticed there are two rubber hoses 1 go's to the fuel rail & 1 go's to a regulator cylinder, my question is where the rubber fuel hoses's meet the metal fuel lines deep in the engine bay there is a 3rd rubber hose that just hangs in space!! anybody know where this is supposed to go please, i can't find any info on the net about what the hell it is or does, thanks very much in advance. cheers
325i rubber fuel hose's question please

It's the vent/breather hose for the tank. It is occasionally connected to the Carbon Cannister, but a lot of people remove that setup as it's pointless:

You need fuel hose stamped suitable for unleaded with an 8mm internal diameter. Not expensive. A bit diddly to fit though.
