Hello all,

Very very new to the world of BMW, just bought a 1990 Silver 325 Touring as me second car. And am wondering about induction kits, can I just bolt on a Universal Filter or do I buy a specific kit for it or should I just go down the panel filter route?

If it were a Renault 21 Turbo I'd know, but this is all new to me

Welcome to the Zone.....

I would personally stay with the standard air box and filter.
Pete don't care about colour, He would shag a rainbow if he could find the end of it....

Yeh stick with the standard airbox and filter, i had a 323i with an induction kit but it didn't make hardly any difference to the performance but it did affect the fuel consumption. When i came to sell the car, the bloke took one look under the bonnet and thought " he's put an induction kit in, he must have been thrashing the arse out of it" HE WAS RIGHT! ha, ha

There a waste of money on there own mate unless you do other more expensive mods.

cheers,

John

Zone Chip and big bore TB would be a nice start, have a look at the Zone shop for details :thumb:

Or you could go a little crazy like me and swap for a bigger engine  :)

Did wonder about the Zone chip tbh, I take it they work then?

I am trying very hard to keep this as the 2nd sensible family car - trouble is, it wont stop going sideways - I love this RWD malarkey  :D

Induction kits are a waste of time in my opinion unless you buy an expensive fully enclosed one so you dont get any heat soak from the engine bay.
Any car Ive had has lost power with one so I stick to the good old airbox now. :)

Cheers, is an uprated panel filter any advantage or should I really stick with stock stuff??

Oh and is the Touring a b'stard over bumps when lowered, Im planning on 40mm drop max.

40mm drop should be fine. Mine is at least 60mm and I can manage over the worst speed bumps etc with just a little scraping. :)

I was thinking about getting a panel filter as well actually as that should be the best of both worlds. I dont know anyone that has tried one on an E30 though to say how good it is.

Stick with the standard filter and change it often.
