Will give them a try, the problem with my unit is that at times it locks up and at times it doesn’t, you can hold the input flange and freely turn the output flanges would this normally indicate that the clutch is knackered? Pinion and crown wheel are fully in tact

As above, I use driveandtraction plates and have never had a problem with them.

If you're going from 2 plates and 2 dog ears to 4 plates and 4 dog ears, then the lock doubles (from 25% to 50%)

Beware machining the 168mm spool end cap though, they're weak enough as standard and are all to fond of shattering even before metal is removed! Steel replacements are available though

I'm planning to rebuild my LSD soon but it was along time ago that i read up on rebuilding an LSD.

Is there a write up about adding more plates into the standard LSD as from what i can remember it was just a case of removing a shim and replacing it with a clutch and a dog ear but seen that a spool cap needs machined.

Anybody help here?

That's right, once it's in bits you'll see the shim (4mm) that needs removing. The same needs to come off the other end of the cap

I can do diff machining and rebuilds etc but not for the next month or two as i've got a new baby and a stressed new mum to look after. :)
