Should a brand new JVC car stereo come with these wires/connectors? Ive always thought all new stereos come with ISO 16pin connectors not just loose wires as shown in photo.

Any advice please as i think ive been stitched!!

Most give you a nice mix of connectors, last one I bought had the one pictured as well as the connector with the pins BUT that is not to say it SHOULD be there. Sometimes they are not supplied and you need to buy one from any good electrical retailer

Check the instruction manual, usually has something like "with the supplied connector...put in your car!" might give you more of a clue if no list of contents provided in the box.

What you should have is a wireing harness coming from the back of the head unit and finishing as the opposite of the plug you have.
The connector you have is to plug into the head unit wiring harness and hardwire into the car.

Hope this makes sense.

Yeah makes sense.

I thought the days of wiring up your car stereos was well gone, when ISO's were standardised.

I thought every stereo had a loom like above with an 16pin ISO adaptor which would simply plug into any car with ISO conector...and that was it...working! Tomorrow i'll spend the day crimping bullets left right and centre.

Thanks Chaps

Does the plug above plug directly into the back of your head unit?

So basically, you have a standard ISO connector in the back of your head unit.
What have you got coming from the car?
If its an ISO block, it will plug straight into the back of your head unit, if its a different plastic plug coming from the car then just get a BMW E30 - ISO adaptor plug (about Ԛ£10) and plug that into the rear of the H/U and into the car?.

Should be easy. All depends what you have coming from the car already.

as above. this bit you have is just an extra incase the car your fitting to does not have this plug already, so its nothing to worry about. you have the wiring harness that comes from the stereo.
