Hi there,
I've recently re shelled my e30 with my m60b30 in and I cannot get it to run for love nor money. The chip is talking to the ring which is talking to the ews2 box which in turn talks to the ecu but it doesn't turn the fuel pump on. So I'm not getting no spark, fuel or injectors opening. I'm desperate! And wondered if any technical wiz on here could delete the ews2 from the ecu? Maybe also stick a chip tune one while they're at it?
Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Rich

Happy to be corrected if anyone knows better, but I didn't think fuel pump switching is affected by EWS.
Sure the crank sensor is working OK?

No I'm not sure the the crank sensor is working. When I had everything in the other shell as soon as you put the key in the ignition the fuel pump primed. Cos it's all tied into the body loom I've had the power probe on the fuel pump relay (m60) and it will work. The ecu doesn't seem to be sending an earth to switch the fuel relay. I've also got no spark. Which points to the ecu being at fault. Or some part of the ecu to do with the ews? I'm stumped :-(

Duff CPS will kill both spark and fuel pump. ECU integrates the crank sensor pulses to provide a switching signal for the fuel pump.
Don't know the M60 very well - is there a possibility of plugging the sensor into the wrong socket like on an M20?

No I've not had the cps out. I can't test the cps either because it sends a digital signal. (Pulse) I have had my doubts weather it was a sensor of some sort.

AFAIK, the sensor is just a bar magnet with a fine coil of wire wound around it. Moving a notched steel wheel past it changes the magnetic flux and generates a voltage in the coil. It's actually an analogue signal that's produced - a sine wave with one cycle per rev. missing, but this is heavily clipped to produce close to a square wave.
The sensor plug has three pins. One of these is for the screen of the wire, and the other two connect to the coil. Measure the resistance of this coil. Should (probably) be around 550 ohms.

Does it crank?
