Recently my car has been making loud noises when I'm turning the steering wheel when the car is stationary.

Whenever I turn the steering wheel to reverse park for example, it sounds like a trumpet/horn. It's not constant, but it's pretty loud. Sounds like metal rubbing together?

Also the steering feels heavy compared to my 318i! The 318i I could easily steer with one hand with the palm of my hand, but can't do it on this car!

Will having 205/55/R15 tyres make a difference to the heavy feel? The 318i had 195/55/R15 on the front.

Power steering fluid level seems normal, but mind you, it does look murky grey! So did the one on the 318i though!

A flush and change of the fluid is on my list, but is there something else than can be causing this? Theres no leaks or anything.

Thanks

Slack belt/belt not properly aligned would be my first check.

Correct me if I'm wrong but if the fluid is murky grey then that's a sure sign of a problem. I'd say that the rack is on its way out. Or maybe a pump fault.
