ok, so i have searched for ages for a L&C keyfob like this one below....looking good with the alpina and BMW logos...

Image

...but there are none around, or the condition is terrible after 20 years of being knocked about on a set of keys. so in true pukar designs style, i got thinking and came up with an idea....

first i designed the decal and ordered it up from the printers,

then found a suitable "housing" (thanks ebay!)

et voila!

the finished article!!

ok, so it's not enamel ( i looked into this and the cost of doing one is about £200 and if you try and get them from china, minimum order is 1000 units!), but i think it's pretty good and close enough for everyday use. the picture doesn't really do it justice as the chrome elements are really shiny. also, it's not too precious to actually use, if i had a brand new L&C one, i guess it would end up in a box in the garage......(along with the other 999 ;) )

I was on a farm on the outskirts of Canterbury last week vsiting a CAMRA beer festival, and noticed a load of BMW dealer signs (the big lit ones that sit on steel pillars outside), lying about in wooden pallets. There were at least three for different dealers, such as Vines, etc.

Sadly, a bit too big to cart back on the park-and-ride bus. :(

@dan - that is unbeleivable! good find......question is will you use it on your keys :?

@B7 - err...not sure. probably about £15-£20ish i reckon to give me a smidge of profit. did you have a pic of the original? if not, we can come up with something, perhaps using the cloverleaf would look

i can also use a squarer blank fob instead of the longer one of that suits the design better ( a bit more like the cooper's one from barry's photo at the top).

luckily the printer i use actually has white ink....which is a rare and unusual thing as most things printed on are already white. this is why the alpina badges & general tat from thailand off ebay do not have the correct colours and are either white and grey or all chrome rather that the correct chrome and white like mine ;)

ebay one (bonnet roundel which is gay btw in principal )showing grey and not chrome...(...as well as incorrect colours, black line in wrong place, not enough detail on shield...etc etc etc)

Image

my wheel badges...

Image

(what looks like crinkling of the chrome on the bottom badges is actually a reflection of the tree foliage outside my window!!)

being anal is where it's at ..... right? winkeye

That looks great, Pukar. Inspired by Dan, however, I had a look on the bay and bought a genuine used (but great - looking condition) original dealer fob which I SHALL be using on the car :)

Yeah, there are a few around (most are not period, but modern) and crop up, but never found an l&c one :(
