Hi there,
The oil is called ATF - Automatic Transmission Fluid.
Take out the dipstick when car is at normal operating temp, on level ground. The level should be between the two marks. Don't overfill!!
The light brown colour is not neccessarily a bad thing. It may be a good idea to change the atf though. Get 3 liters of Dexron 2 or Dexron 3 quality ATF.
Drain the sump. (There's a drain plug on bottom of sump)
You could also change the filter while your at it. Get filter, o-ring and sump gasket. Drain ATF. Take off sump. Unscrew filter (torx srewdriver needed - can't remember the size). Replace. Close everything up again. Throw in ATF. Start up car. While holding foot on brake, slowly shift the selector from reverse through 1, waiting a second in each selection. Take car for a slow drive. Check ATF as described above. Add ATF if neccessary. Check ATF level and for leaks for following few days.
Hope this helps. I'm no expert on this, but have done it before.
