Right, it seems that my engine may be on the way out (quite noise, oil light now on ect) but what should I do?
A) Get the engine fixed?
B) Buy and get fitted another 325i lump?
C) Drop another engine in it (whats the cheapest)?
I have no idea on prices for any of the above and all the work would have to be done by someone else as im not a mechanic.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Cheapest engine swap?

it's not the cheapest option but the most sensible one,
you'r cheapest option would be just to drop another 2.0/2.5?? engine in there,
but if you lust after more power and have money at your disposal
**M50 M50 M50 ALL THE WAY**

How much is an M50 conversion likely to cost?
I would like more power but I would have to have the car off the road while I save up and id hate being without a car for ages.

unfortunately unless your loaded enough to have another motor while yours gets done theres no other way.its worth it in the end though.mine was off the road for 17 weeks until it was finished
nightmare using buses and trains but you get used to it
