Why do you want to change to carbs?
You will have to go to something like an Emerald ecu to control the ignition as the iS has not got a distributor
I've got a standard engine with a chipped uk chip and got 149bhp at the wheels last time it went on the rollers .It seemed a high figure to me but it is much quicker than before

Unless this is track only, you may have MOT emissions problems.

that a 30hp increse from a chip, from you know who!! even he only claims 26hp but never prooven
maybe 149 at the flywheel which would be good 10hp up on standard

Oh no it wasn't it was on June 12 2005.
I've just looked in my file and in April 2004 I got 126bhp at the wheels totally standard ,Russ got 128bhp in his iS.
Add the chip which claimed +23bhp = 149bhp

David, you can't just assume the chip gives you +23bhp at the wheels! this is totally unheard of on our engines, and extremely unlikely. you'd need to have the car r/r before and after on the same rollers to get an accurate-ish representation.
i'm withn kos, 126bhp atw out of a standard 318is is pretty good, i doubt you'd get much more out of it with the chip, mb a few ponies, but i really wouldn't have thought 149bhp atw, that would be a massively impressive figure.
as for carbs, you can use the motronic to control spark and the carbs to do fuel, or use something like an SMT6 to either piggyback the motronic or do the sparks standalone. emissions and fuel consumption would be the issues really.
