It has not cause my car any problem performance wise but the mpg keeps flickering now and again as well as sometimes all the green service lights coming up? loose connection or something else?

Probably failing batteries on the SI board in the instrument cluster, if you have the version that uses NiCd batteries. They tend to start leaking corrosive juice as they fail, so time to check them out before they destroy the board.
