Hi, i'm having problems with installing the sunroof liner back on my touring. The problem i'm having is that the rain gutter on the back of the sunroof liner doesn't seem to slide perfectly on the rails under the roof ( i'll post pictures for you to understand) and when the liner has to tilt with the sunroof in the back it gets jammed in the tow brackets on the sides that support the gutter on the roof liner because of the incorrect travel of the gutter on the rails ( i hope you understand what i mean from the pics bellow).

As you can see the plastic sliders on the gutter don't slide on both sides in the "rails" , right side is in limits while left side sits on top. How should they sit and slide on those black rails?

I'm also having problems with gluing the upholstery fabric on top of the old roof liner fabric as i saw it was written in the wiki. It just gets too thick for the liner frame to slide in the rails when the sunroof closes and it takes a fair amount of force to slide it ( i tried it with my hand without the roof installed to check operation )
i also put a bit of grease on that side but didn't made much difference.
If anybody did it and has some experiences to share please do it... i'm so fed up with the thing .
I also have pics of the fabric glued on the liner and will post them bellow to show where it is too thick for it to slide normally.

the red arrow is where it has resistance when sliding

i would really appreciate your help.... i really don't know how to make it to slide and work properly and rain is about to fall and ruin my rest of the upholstered liner and inside of the car.

Many thanks,
Alex

Is it thicker material than the original liner? If it is that could cause a issue.

The material runs along the silver runner on the sunroof frame(from memory when I did mine so sorry if it don't work) too much force may ladder and tear the material.

As for glue I used contact adhesive, small amount spread out on both sides to stick to then few min gap to set a little then attach and compress.

Hope that helps a little....

hi,
no it's not that thick it's about the same thickness as the old one but it has a suede leather texture that i think isn't helping to slide smooth.

Anyone knows how the rain gutter should slide inside?

thank you
