No x5 don't bolt on, mine were hacked up a fair bit.
Steering column in the way and starter motor in the way on the other side
I think the manifolds from ergen are £800, id buy them every single time over trying to source the manifolds needed and how restrictive they are. Plus it then makes the conversion pretty straight forward
See photo, don't forget the internal of the pipe is even smaller as these have the double skin pipe
If you have ideas even cad files I can put you in touch with an affordable and bloody decent machinist.
I know the chap with the m60 Capri used a transit gearbox...
The standard m60 manifolds were butchered on mine to fit the e30. Pics in my build thread. It was 301bhp when dynoed on the e34 540, on the e30 with butchered manifolds it made 284bhp. Torque was increased on the e30 tho, with the extra restriction increasing torque but lower bhp.
If you building a road/track car then I'd personally go M3 engine, only go v8 if you really want the v8 sound or going to drift it. Nothing really hard about putting a v8 in an e30, even the servo is easily mounted under glovebox.
I cant imagine an M60/62 conversion being very good for 1/4 mile times TBH, I dont recall any decent times being posted up anyway, too much low down torque for such a light car, its not an engine you can rev for power either
There is probably more at play here than just the manifolds, the air filter and air box will have changed in the e30, along with the inlet trunking length.
The whole exhaust system has also changed in length and the position of the cross over, this will effect the torque curve of the engine more than most would think.
I would expect the E30 has a lot more heat in the bay that an e34 as well.

I'm torn really. IMO the S50 suits the E30 engine bay perfectly, more so than the S54. The S54 looks too modern and out of place.
But from a performance/bang for buck point of view it would have to be an S54....
I can't afford either at the moment, so it's not something I need worry about for a while
And I do keep swaying towards a nice V8 rumble
Having driven a few and been in a few more the S50 swap is fast, i can really appreciate the way they drive. If you want to go fast especially round a track in a well set e30 my god they are quick.
This is Paul Dickinson car, although driven by rob welsh at brands
however, and im not biased, a v8 is hilariously good fun and way more fun in my eyes then a s50d car.
A v8 is still quick though and no different in speed compared to a 3.0 in my opionon, however a 3.2 has the legs on it (obviously).
Driveabilty on the track the s50 is in a different league.
The power delivery is totally different too, as i said above you can give a S50'd e30 to your grandma to drive, not quite the same with the v8 as the low rev power means it goes whatever gear and speed (if you have a normal ratio diff - no 2.91s) and the noise.....
Whatever makes you happy really, im a pikie and a show off so i like the noise and drama a v8 has, a s50 you can pass by and not know any different. Each are good at their own things....
