Tis nice.

Interior isn't my cup of tea but I strangely like the digital instrument cluster. Considering it's aftermarket it looks fantastic!

Be more fun to built one... but find an early E21?

I prefer this shape (2 headlights rather than 4).

For £10k I would have an immaculate E21 323i LE with 40k mileage and Concours champion which was for sale recently.

Unusual to find an E21 freak who hasn't removed the front bumper.

For once I agree with pony !

If I was ever stupid and or high enough on drugs to pay 10 bags for an E21 ... It wouldn't be on a modded 316 from Bradford ! Fair foooks to the guy for blowing his wad on a once horrid turd and making his dream come true etc...but getting a refund on his project will be hard unless he finds an equally delusional victim? eek:

Surely 10k is e21 C1-b6 territory ?

I'd rather spend £10k on something I could drive and enjoy. Not everyone sees cars as something to keep pristine and factory and never driven.

For £10k I can think of a lot of cars I could actually enjoy instead of spending y weekends polishing tyre treads.

You can get a Porsche 911 or Maserati for not much more than £10k but who in the Zone has the balls and the wallet to do that ?

I think everyone on the zone that could has enough sense not to touch the 10k festering turd remains of a 50-80k car that will only ever be a money pit and negative return.

Its a very tidy car, but for 10k he is trying to sell the modifications rather than the car.

He might get it but only from someone who wants a modified 316.

Early/pre facelift cars are getting hard to find now, even ones with holes in are not easy to find for the right money.

Many many rotten turds out there making me glad mine is reasonably solid, better than a lot of e30/36s at least.

A decent 996 911 won't cost any more to run than a decent e46 m3. If I could justify one I'd happily have a nice clean facelift manual c2. I'd love a Maserati 3200gt too and wouldn't let running cost rumours put me off.

For four years I ran a notoriously unreliable and expensive to run delta integrale as an everyday car, doing 20,000 or so miles a year. There aren't many cars out there I wouldn't take a punt on given the chance.

There's more to life than keeping a turd polished in the hope it maintains or even increases in value.

A decent 996? Was there ever such a beast?

The trouble with 996's is that the engine is very flawed and it's not a case of if it will require a 5-10k rebuild, but when. Plus they just look like old 1998 toss now and have Mark 4 Golf build quality, penny pinched and cost pared to buggery.

10 grand for an E21 or any description = no ta. I had 323i's when they were £350 auction fodder, and they're no faster in 2014. They were replaced in 1982 by something much better.

More than you think. Many, many zoners are well to do and have the good manners not to boast about it. (I'm not one of them  )

The only 996s I like are

996.2 C2 40th Anniversary Special Limited Edition 1964 examples worldwide £16k plus
This essentially is C2 with lots of options as standard including power pack which power from 320bhp to 345bhp

996.2 Targa Manual £12k plus
Grey
Star fish alloys
Sports Exhaust
LSD
BOSE

996 Turbo Manual
Grey

Maserati 4200 Coupe £12k plus or Grande Sporte Coupe £25-40k

Hi everyone. That's my e21 for sale. If anyone is genuinely interested and would like a closer look, I'll be at the fuelled society show on Sunday at nostell priory.

Even if you could find a C1 for sale, you wouldn't even be close at £10k. Set your sights on a B6 (again, finding one would be tough) and you'll be looking at £25k+. Even average condition E21 values have started to climb in the past year, especially 323i.

This sold recently and have seen a couple of Baur 323i make similar money in the past few weeks.

http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=1398107

Nigel Moseley's 323 is a bargain at £10k but the colour may put off the originality freaks?! I know someone was viewing last weekend though, so may well be sold.

The tough thing with selling any modified car, is the fact it'll be to the builders taste and maybe not everyone else's? I still think this car is well worth the cost, as it's a lot more than an old 316 with an M52 shoehorned in.

That's not an appeal, it's a liability. Not bad in the dry with LSD, proper suspension and tyres but horrid in the wet. I ran two 323i's back in the day, okay but nothing a 325i can't sort out.
