The speedo and rev counter is working however the odometer (mileage counter) has stopped working.
I opened the clocks up to inspect the gears and they all seem to be intact and can manually move them to turn the odometer.
Any ideas what could be causing this?

It can only be a fault on the speedo. assembly itself, either the stepper motor that drives the digits or the electronics controlling it.

Thanks Brian.Brianmoooore wrote:It can only be a fault on the speedo. assembly itself, either the stepper motor that drives the digits or the electronics controlling it.
Is it worth trying to investigate/repair the problem or is it too far gone?

It's not like the latest electronics where you need a micro manipulator, hot air guns and a microscope to work on it, but the only place you're likely to be able to find spares is on another E30 speedo. module, and there isn't really a lot of point in robbing one working unit to repair a duff unit.

Doesn't even have to be Motometer.

I placed a VDO speedo into a Motometer cluster and it's been working fine for the past 18 months.
