No good for me Rog. It's not an "X".
No "X" goodies = No Win.
They still look great mind. I still fancy a nice pre facelift Ghia Sapphire or a late X Executive with the two tone paint and leather!
Back at you with this one:

Good call, you'd have got on well with my late father, he had the enthusiasm for the 1600E as I do a E30 325i
I remember going to look at a Grandad 2.8 with him when i was a nipper, the 2.8 badge did it for me, bitch step mother put paid to it though and we ended up with Datsun Sunny
As for Sapphires, never did for me, even Cossie Sapphire, just can't like them.
PS I had a 2.3 Grandad estate, bought over the phone for £90, drove it home from Reading, which took 6 hours and gallons of water after it immediately broke down 1 mile from the garage
Parked it up and never used it again! Pile of crap! With wood trim though

I think you are thinking of the wrong Sapphire. THIS is a Granada Sapphire Limited Edition. Built in 79 / 80 only, you don't see many. I looked at one once to buy but it was already needing so much paint even at 4 years old (I ended up with a T plate Silver Ghia). Plus it had the blue cloth trim. They needed the black leather to really make me firm! A girl I knew, he dad had a blinder of one. It got nicked and he ended up with a black Y plated Ghia X with the grey leather. BASTARD!

That's rather cool,I wasn't aware of a Sapphire Granada, with the detail you're putting my way I feel like i'm being Granada groomedB7 wrote:I think you are thinking of the wrong Sapphire. In all honestly though, whilst I like a good Granada, it's the early MK1/Consol that does it for me.....

I much prefer the lines of the MK1, mind for all I know they might be a pile of toss to drive compared to the MK2, but as a visual thing, I think Ford went backwards with the MK2?

Actually, When I changed my Mk1 to the Mk2 I was a touch disappointed. I felt the Mk1 drove better. Yet same chassis in all intents and purposes.
I love a Mk1 Coupe. In Diamond White, Roman Bronze, Arizona Gold or Jupiter Red with the Light Tan roof would do me.

Along the same vein, I had a MK1 Astra SR, which handle just fantastic, car was a wreck, but put it in a bend at any speed and it'd go around. Short while later I bought a MK2 Astra GTE, mint condition and well looked after. To say I was disaapointed with the handling would be an understatement, In a straight line, great fun and in it's day, fast, but put it in a bend and is frightening to say the least, just appauling.
I wonder how it is manufacturers all to often go backwards??
