Quick prop question

Have the m52 running nicely now but have decided to ditch the getrag rattely box as it's pissing me off!!! Have got hold of a 328i zf box and just want to know what prop I need? Do I need to make one out of two different ones or is there one I can get that's a streight fit? Also can I modify the m20 linkage or do I need a e36 linkage.

328i prop is a straight fit with reversed E30 centre bearing. Also heard that E30 M3 one can be used. Bear in mind the zr box doesn't have an overdrive 5th gear so your final drive will be very short until you can source a diff with a better ratio.

Which box do I need then? It's from a 328i! I'm running a 3.91 LSD diff too

You dont reverse the centre bearing, it only fits the body one way

As above though, 328i manual prop and linkages work fine, you will need a different ratio diff around 3.07 3.15 3.25

Whats in there now?

Any stock e30 diff is going to be murderously short, 5th will be what 4th was and all gears below are going to be adjusted for that 1:1 5th.

might get away with a 3.64 and m5x box but that will feel like a 4.40 small case in a stock e30.

Top tip, Z3 or compact diff but medium case diffs are hard to come by.

3.17 would be the equivalent of your current 3.91.
3.25 is the equivalent of 4.01.

I have 3.25 diff with 328i box and it is still a little short....doesn't bother me much as I like the acceleration over top speed. 5th gear is a little wearing over long distances on the motorway. Mine needs a sixth really.
