He looked at the grim grey leatherz and realised the error of his ways

Either that, or perhaps a 5.7-litre V12 didn't quite cut it in the gas-guzzling stakes over in Brunei...

Car number 10 was ordered directly from the Alpina factory by serial car buyer and enthusiast, the Sultan of Brunei. It remained in his extensive collection for a number of years and was hardly ever driven, whilst always being carefully stored in his museum.
Carefully stored? Not something the Sultan of Brunei is known for, maybe he means carefully stored in the way my turd is stored. In a garage slowly rotting and looking rather sorry for itself.
This is actually a good read. Bloody despots!

A dehumidified 'cocoon', in a cool, dry, undisturbed place, such as a bunker, and the car stored with the weight off its tyres.
Such places were set up specifically for the storage of priceless classics and other artefacts:

that looks epic. The M8 would surely have been epic if ever produced.

Yes, but it's name sounds chavvy, like the text spelling of 'mate'. It would thus end up as a pub landlord's chariot!

This garage is only ten minutes drive down the road from my gaff, didn't know it existed

X5 V8 for thrills, CRV for chills, Range Rover P38 V8 for sooooo much aggravation...

I drove a 850 csi when I was working for Woods in 'Bore muff'.
Had a manual switch for sport mode - also the windows automatically closed over a certain speed.
Think that was about as close to an M version of the 8 series.
