That said had the car out for a drive struggerling for a few minutes then its perfect and it pulls like a train just holding back for the 1st 5 min

The split trunking certainly won't be helping things!
What management is it running - standard Motronic, or standalone/piggyback ECU?

Well known 'tuner' beginning with B?bss325i wrote:It had a nasty uni Q unichip bodged in by a well known tuner and when the car was with me for work i suggested throwing it in the bin and reverting back to a standard motronic set up with the AFM and get a suitable chip.
Adam then got Paul (paulshepps on here) to map it and got knows whats happened since.
Replace the split intake boot and see if that improves it but as i said to Adam, ditch the Uni Q shite.

Had one gashed in mine when I bought it years ago- got ripped out pretty quickly- crappy things

im not clued up on all that mate i wish i was if i can get away with the manifold and other stuff i would be happy with thatjimbom30cab wrote:Why don't you just build a nice fresh m20b25 with standard everything
Selling all the leftovers would easily pay for it and you would have a better car in my opinion
If you really want some extra zing, build a simple 2.7 with a road cam , lighten fly, bbtb and chip. Lots of fun to be had
Thats what I would do

i understand what your saying but if its something daft with mine its always a option i suppose.jimbom30cab wrote:Mate, its easy, seriously buy yourself a complete 2.5 from one of the sound traders on here, the complete engine with all the bits. Many traders here will even provide a warranty.
Then take it all out, swap gearbox etc, fit new engine , set to work
All the info is on the net and wiki here

that sounds a good option take it my car at the min has no afm i would like to fit and the correct manifold and a afm ect ectSpeedtouch wrote:Which ECU do you have? It's probably possible to refit an AFM and just fit a suitable 2.8 chip, removing the piggyback setup.

dme 1.3 loom??? now im lost aginjimbom30cab wrote:Thats worth a try, put the standard b25 intake system on with a standard dme 1.3 loom, then add a chip to the correct ecu
Make sure the 2.5 inlet comes with standard injectors and fpr

why would i need to change the loom??jimbom30cab wrote:Any 325i facelift, basically F reg onwards

Speedtouch wrote:Your existing loom should be OK to use - just tidy up the AFM wiring. And yes, your car appears not to have the AFM fitted.
Theoretically, removing the AFM when using standalone management such as Megasquirt makes it less restrictive, but quite often leads to the issues you describe of the car running like a pig at low speeds!
I suspect this is down to the venturi effect, whereby a 'restrictive' (narrow) inlet tract actually increases the air speed, leading to better bottom end torque.

dont wanna sell it sold my sport last year and wish i never.jimbom30cab wrote:Changing the loom puts it back to standard, a known unbodged baseline
Or just sell it to me LOL

why do you give up?diable wrote:I give up.
