So, I was planning on swapping my spare wheel with the driver's rear only to find out that I have no locking wheel key.
What are my options?

I literally looked everywhere, couldn't find it, also need to get a jack as that's missing too.
Thanks, I'll give Cooper Chelmsford or Elms Stansted a ring in a minute, hopefully they can help me.

Also check the front and rear ashtrays.
You could probably get away with a suitable sized Torx socket.

Right, just to spoke to someone in the service's department at a local BMW garage. He said that they might possibly have something from their master set, however either because it's an old car or someone didn't log it he can't be sure. I'll take my chances, good price too.

all you need is a universal wheel locking nut key removal tool, they are called Irwin sockets, but don't let the alloy wheel thieves know about them

That's really sneaky, I like it!
I can't see it working on my locking nuts though, I'm not a genius and I this is an anti-theft device, so surely there is something stopping people from just using a round headed socket set on the outside of the locking nut?
At first I thought your idea was ideal, but now it just seems to easy.

should work on your bolts a treat, done ones just like it myself, the lockers that Irwin's struggle with are the ones with a spinning collarMaxtek wrote:That's really sneaky, I like it!

Irwin's actually dig in to the bolt and have the out in now time, just don't use Irwin's if you want to reuse said bolt
you could always try and hammer a slightly too small socket on but if it gets stuck on then your really screwed

Right, well I guess I'll give this a go if BMW garage can't sell me a new one from their master set.
A friend suggested to weld a bolt into the locking nut, seemed like a decent option too.

Yes, you could do that - the heat from the weld will help break it loose. Just be careful not to spatter the wheels - use some weld spatter resist spray, or similar, or you'll end up with pock marks in the paint.

An Irwin will remove the bolt easily I've used them on dozens of this type of BMW bolt.
These bolts are used by BMW on much newer cars than E30s, so your dealer should have the correct one.
