Hi,

Soon to own a h reg 325i e30.
Will be doing a 2.8 m52 conversion, with shaved bay and a few other things. Sourced an s reg e39 528 with a M52B28 in it. However its an auto. Can i use this engine and loom from the e39, with the e30 525 flywheel, starter, box and prop?

thanks

I started with the same engine but ended up getting a cheap e36 328 loom and ecu. I think the wiring is a bit more complicated but I'm no expert on this

You can use the e30 325i (I assume you mean 325, not 525) gearbox, prop, flywheel and starter although you will have to modify the cross member and gear linkage as the engine sits at a different angle. Also you have to modify either the sump or get the flywheel lightened so they clear

Yeah I read about this. And needed an e34 sump. But it is possible to use the e39 engine and loom and ecu, even though it's an auto and a e39?

You can, the auto side isn't a problem but iirc the e39 lump is a bit of a pain to use for some reason

There good I've used one it pretty much the same apart from e30 ecu is inside the car e39 is in the engine bay so the loom is shorter just alot Easyer to get an e36 loom

Does the e36 loom and ecu have to come off a M52B28 ? the only reason I'm using an e39 is because of its availability over a 36.
