Hey all, just a quick question if anyone could help me out, would be massively appreciated!

My throttle cables getting a bit stiff so i thought i'd replace it, however the replacement one I got (it's a bilstein one off ebay) seems ever so short?!

I triple checked before I bought it, but when i'm placing it next to the current cable, it doesnt even reach the bulkhead/firewall?

Am i being thick? (most likely) or are there loads of different cable variants?

Thanks for any advice.

Could it be a LHD version?

Yes I think it might be. Sorry for the stupid question, think my heads a bit fuzzy from the weekend's drinking!

If you'd bought it direct from a BMW dealer, it would have been the right one, and very likely cheaper!

I was fully prepared to buy from my local cooper garage (BMW), but the guy was far from helpful, so i took my business elsewhere!

Drop an email to BMW UK. BMW expect the highest standards from their dealers.

I wouldn't want to go that far, i'd feel rude going to the top about it! I'll just have to pop back in there and hope for someone else :) Cheers Brian!

You don't have to demand that the bloke is fired, or even name him. Just mention that you were less than satisfied with the service offered on this occasion, and took your business elsewhere.
Yours may turn out to be the only complaint they've received about this parts dept., or there may be a stack of them already. Enough of them, and they'll take action.

Of course I wouldn't want anyone fired! I work as a sales rep and customer service, and know how it would feel to be complained about (of course if I did a bad job then it would be due) but I can only imagine it was probably a one off, the guy was probably having a bad day, and I probably didn't have enough patience.

i used to work at bmw a long time ago when i was younger, some dumb bird had a 630i which was in because she filled it with diesel, anyway she was arrogant and rude, and even though I was kind and polite she was fu***ng annoying!

expecting the car to be ready next day..

anyway a courtesy car and a week later, the car was ready to be collected...

she then drove off car fixed and wallet lightened and i get a call at 12.55 from the dumb biatch what she did was put diesel in the car again and was arguing that we were a bunch of idiots and that she would never buy a bmw again and that someone go to her aid and repair her car etc etc....

anyway i said everyones gone home, and she asked if i could come out to her and fix her car, I told her im not a mechanic... and she called me an idiot and said to speak to my manager, I just told her straight im not the one whose filled up a bmw with the wrong fuel twice so whose the idiot? and just hung up!

some customers you get at bmw are complete morons, had too many!

So yeah the bloke was probably having a bad day...

I wouldn't say I was being rude in any way, he just made it very awkward to deal with, huffed and puffed about everything and made the "buying from a dealer" experience not what I expected, having not used a BM dealer for years.
I didn't complain in the end (it's all love for BMW) so I'm going to agree it was just a bad day ;)
