Just thinking out loud really, does anyone think it would be possible to return the oil feed to the timing chain cover?

Reason I ask, it looks like getting the sump off is going to be a nightmare with the engine in the bay

Simple enough to return it via the dipstick

Good call, bit of a convoluted route but I am sure I can make it work

in a perfect situation you really need to make the oil drain lower than the turbo itself so its easier for the oil to gravity drain back to the sump if that makes sense?

Yeah I don't want to run a scavenger pump so it will be below the oil drain level.

My manifold and turbo are on their way to me so hopefully have them next week some time so I can start mocking up

what turbo have you gone for?
I'm welding two AN10 fittings into my sump above the oil level for my drains from the turbos.
AN4 to supply them and AN10 for oil return to the sump

Holset HX40 18.5cm2, quite a sizeable beast :D

I plan on using AN10 for the drain, I measured the dip stick tube and it's about 5mm smaller than AN10 though. I think I am going to have to bit the bullet and pull the sump off :(

Do it once and do it right. Whip the sump off and weld AN10 fitting in there for a proper job.

What's it like taking an m50 sump off with the lump in situ?

sorry to thread hijack - but I have a borg warner s256 - I was looking at a an12 return - is this overkill? anyone know what I need for the turbo oil inlet and outlet by any chance?

an10 seems to be the norm for all the build threads I have been reading (and I have been reading A LOT)

Cheers Lee, that looks like a decent solution and will save me pulling the sump

Iv seen that be done before but just remember the drain needs to be lower than the turbo otherwise you will get a oil failure,
For a oil feed I'd go for AN-4. Usually there's a oil restricter on the turbo oil feed line anyway
