My mate has just bought and fitted a set of bbs 15" off an ix and the front inner wall tyres touch the struts.
I always thought any wheel of any e30 are interchangable??(not m3 of course)
Have 325 ix wheels got a different et to standard??

Stock offset for the ix wheels 15x7 is 41mm (ET41), whereas the standard 15x7 BBS cross-spoke wheels have 24mm offset (ET24).

325ix also have different struts. I assume that'll explain the problem. Don't think the IX struts would fit a standard e30, the shells are different in terms of turret placement.
I may be interested in buying them to the right price, drop me a pm.

Et 41 standard on the ix
Et25 on the rest of the range.
A 20mm spacer would have them looking sweet.
Think of et in mm.
25 is the number you need to remember for an e30.
If you Add an inch to the rim width then take 1 inch off the et. If you fit wheels with a lower number et (eg et0) then they stick out more by 25 mm over the standard bbs as long As the first rule is still applied.
Hope that makes sense.
Ps anyone have any more details on the ix shell being different,i was under the impression they were all the same?

That does make sense age thankyou, but what about the rears?..does that mean he will have extra "track" on the rear wheels?will this cause any adverse effect?

If he using the iX wheels without a spacer on the rear he will be running a reduced track (remember 41 is bigger than 25 so the wheel is sitting further in)macas wrote:That does make sense age thankyou, but what about the rears?..does that mean he will have extra "track" on the rear wheels?will this cause any adverse effect?
when fitted with a 20mm spacer, each wheel will be et21, increasing track on both sides by 4mm, which in my opinion is perfect on the back of an e30, should het those tyres nice and snug with the arches.
no real adverse affects, besides being down 1 or 2 mpg in fuel economy after adding 4 wheel spacers, rotational mass and all that jazz
