Rear Shock Protection Tubes
Moderator: martauto
Does anyone know where I can get a set of protection tubes for the rear shocks other than originals? I can't get them off my old shocks and would prefer plastic ones. I've ordered a Boge set off ebay but they are wrong, they actually fit the front of an E36. Also got the same problem with a set of Febi shock caps I've ordered. Everything that's apparently meant for the E30 seems to be too big to fit on the rears.

The dealer mate. You should have looked on Demon Tweeks, they have Bilstein B4's on there very cheap. Ive ordered a set of rears which worked out £40 each with postage. I've emailed them regarding the front as they list 2 at different prices. Think the more expensive are for the bigger struts, but I'm yet to get a reply.
I've got a set of B4's from Demon Tweeks. I posted the find on here weeks ago. I just wanted some protection tubes without paying around £40 for a pair which are metal. I've ordered a set for a Toyota Corolla so will post my findings when they arrive...

Covers from the standard Boge rear dampers fit B4s perfectly. Note that they contain the large load spreading washer for the top mount, so if any other cover is used, it's essential that you use a separate washer if it doesn't have an integral one.
Without the washer, life of the rear top mounts is about two weeks.

Are we going to see yet another case of ebay parts costing more than OE from BMW?
