I fitted a set of angel eyes to my touring the other week, and since then for some reason now when i turn the ignition on, the rear lights go on even when i havent turned my lights on. Any idea whats causing it or how to fix it? Cheers

'Smileys' were fitted from '88-'93.

Does it have two round two pin plugs and sockets on the LH inner wing, with wires going off to something mounted right on the front returned edge of the inner wing, next to the headlamp?

Are you sure its the tail lights, and not the brake lights? The last two E30's ive worked on ive had to adjust the brake switch

In that case its most likely the switch on the pedal, pull the pedal back to see if they go out

You will still need to adjust the switch, as they will probably stay on again after a few presses of the pedal

There's no adjustment for the later switch. It's the brake pull rod that needs adjusting.

I just did this to a G plate iS which is close enough to the OP's 89 build car, its worth checking at leastBrianmoooore wrote:There's no adjustment for the later switch. It's the brake pull rod that needs adjusting.

99% of RH drive E30s in existence need their brake pull rods adjusted in my experience.
