I have been offered a Hartge H27 convertible in good condition. The car is a good spec with around100k miles. The conversion was carried out by Birds and includes Hartge wheels, engine, exhaust etc. Can you please advise on what is a fair price?

Then the chances are its a fake built up by a zoner called e30ata who got banned.
He also faked up a load of paper work for it.
Any pics of said car?

This one is not fake as it's been confirmed as genuine and built by Birds garage using the vin and registration.

This car has caused a lot of controversy in the past:
http://www.e30zone.net/modules.php?name ... c&t=186157
Yes, it has a Hartge engine, Yes it was done by Birds, No it's not a complete H27 car - it's a cabriolet with an engine swap, and should be priced accordingly.
There is only one H27 Cabriolet known to exist. This car is not it.

Right here!gooner1 wrote:Where's Ric when you need him?
Well in that case it's not a H27, just a 325i cabrio with a H27 engine fitted by birds.
As for value, Condition and history is everything.
And that letter is/was a fake that ata ullah made up.

Save your money and buy a nice car, This car is scrap, or it was 4 years ago !elan wrote:I have been offered a Hartge H27 convertible in good condition. The car is a good spec with around100k miles. Oh and it had more miles than that back then ! Hopefully that will help you decide the way forward here !!!
Seriously a nice well documented original 325i cabby is a far better car than a badged turd that has done the rounds with lots of expert traders.....

I don't want to open a can of worms or for this thread to reach 20 pages.
There is an email from James Bird which reads "Yes I can confirm that the BMW with chassis number eb952** had a genuine Hartge H27 conversion"

Any E30 should be valued on the condition of it's shell.
Once satisfied that you have a sound shell, then go forward to value the oily bits.
It appears to me that this particular E30 has a dubious past,so is very difficult to value.
Personally,I would not touch it with your barge-pole,never mind mine!

I have also called Birds to speak in person. It was an email and not a e30zone message.
The car is taken off for sale until its fully independently inspected. I am getting them to check if the body and the mechanics are in good order before deciding.
