Right guys doing the 5 stud conversion on my 316 auto.
Using 318ti compact rear beam, trailing arms and z3m diff.
Was intending to upgrade the rear discs/pads to that of a 328i
Now my dilemma is do I do as everyone else and go for e36 Evo hubs/breaks/wishbones with e30 m3 lollipop bushes ... The down side to this being I want to run 15" or 16" wheels but I'm 90% sure this won't be possible as the floating discs are to big to run anything under a 17" ... Is this correct ?
Are there other options as I've heard of people using e46 hubs with a mixture off other parts to sit the wheel in the correct place like the Evo stuff does ?
Any help would be greatly appreciated before I go and spend a small fortune on m3 Evo parts
Regards
Dan

you can use standard e36 hubs and brakes with evo wishbones and adjustable topmounts.
you might need treehouse racing lollipop bushes though.
if you are not doing a 5 stud swap for brakes what are you doing it for?
can the same result be got from a set of adapter spacers?

Using E30 M3 components is best will, work with 15 or 16" wheels, and give an upgrade with the brakes too.
Not the cheapest but many agree the best on an E30, im using a Z3M rear end with E30 M3 front end, the original ABS worked iv'e had no issues and am happy with that set up, just another option.

Can get the E36 M3 Evo stuff to fit under SOME 16" wheels.
Here's mine under 16"x7J BMW Style 42s. Only needed some 15mm hubcentric spacers to fit.

I wasn't aware you could use standard e36 hubs with Evo wishbones as I was under the impression they never fit ?
Do treehouse racing lollipops work with Evo wishbones and e36 hubs then ?
Ideally I'd like to use e30 m3 components but there so expensive and hard to find unless you know of any for sale for a decent price ?
I was hoping to run a 16" 7-7.5j rim on the e36 Evo front end myself, hopefully an old style BMW wheel like the style 3's I have for sale

I think most stock 16" x 7J E36/E46 wheels (ET47-ish) will fit with adequate spacers, but it's a bit of an exercise in trial and error.
I know for a fact the style 42s fit with 15mm spacers, for example. I also know that Style 45s fit, potentially with smaller spacers.
16" Style 3's MAY be okay without spacers. They will be lower offset - you won't need the spacer for clearance. It all depends on the design of the inside of the rim.

I do have E30 M3 front legs available for sale on behalf of a friend, but sadly not cheap, i think he's after £800 for the fronts complete with B8 damper and spring ready to bolt on. Also have an as new powder coated, new bearings rear end soon for sale!

I've seen plenty of e30 m3 suspension for sale lately the last lot was for sale in Staines on gumtree and sold for £2000 to a chap who drove over from Germany to collect.
Decent original calipers are more of an issue. Every set I have seen are seized and some beyond repair.

That's what I mean in regards to ridiculously expensive, personally I just can't see that sort of money myself.
Unfortunately my style 3's are only 15" so I'm kind of out of luck there .
I managed to get a deal off £250 for the whole front end set up from an Evo so I'm guessing that'll be the way to go then it's just a case of hunting for a set of wheels to fit ...

Sorry to hi-jack your thread but can anyone clarify if you can use Z3 hubs and brakes on E30 trailing arms?
Also found this adapter kit to allow you to fit e36/e46 front hubs and brakes while keeping your original e30 suspension:
http://www.r3vlimited.com/board/showthread.php?t=306268
price would be about £143 delivered, any opinions on this? Seems like a good option for the price!
