carpet wet on the driver side footwell

Hi all ive noticed in my new recently purchased e30 the driver side foot well is always every so slightly wet the floor however is clean and hasnt been welded etc jus wondering where this water could be coming from??

IF the floor is sound around the base of the throttle pedal and the corner by the wheelarch,other known leak places include the battery tray and the scuttle.

Carpets out and inspect. Any small patch of orange is a hole if you prod it. Spray talcum powder around and water coming in will leave streaks that point straight to the source of the leak.

usual culprit is a rusty inner sill next to the throttle pedal ....

... Or the windscreen seal... As it was in my case.
