This looks like a nice build.
From the article:
This 1988 BMW M3 (VIN WBSAK0307J2197824) has been transformed into a road-going homage to the legendary DTM racers, complete with Warsteiner livery.

Wow, that looks amazing. A lot of work must have gone in to putting that together.

Loads of m3s have done it, particularly in the states.
You used to be able to buy sport evo 2.5 blocks and cranks for pretty reasonable money. Not any more though!
Seems odd to have gone to 2.5, but still have the standard airbox and afm setup. A carbon airbox is usually the first thing anyone does to an m3.
cheers,
harry

That looks stunning to be fair. On a side note...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/BMW-M3-96-k-mil ... ars_Trucks
£20k for a near enough (looking) immaculate M3
Anyone fancy a trip to San Fran...? Seriously though, is it worth the import duties and shipping to bring one of these over here - especially with the spetics' lack of rain over there??

More like 26k ! Then you have to ship it, pay duty, pay vat, get it MOT compliant and 35k later you MAY have a nice 100k mile ,not particularly desireable spec ,septic M3 with an incorrect spark plug tool

Indeed, BMW were worried about warranty dramas if they released a non standard shift pattern box on the septics !
This, along with more weight and less power makes US M3s the runts of the M3 litter, if there is such a thing.

Ahh shame. What's the incorrect spark tool business about?

E30 M3s come with a specific spark plug tool as they aren't a normal size.
The seller has probably realised they are worth a fair bit of money and sold it.

They are NLA and often missing. The plug bore in the head in very small and very few sockets will fit, the M20 one he has in his tool tray is NOT one of them !
My ebay record for a good used one is £185
