Right I see, cheers. £79 doesn't seem too bad. I'm sure they'll be more for E30 ones from mr BMW..Craggy73 wrote:^^^ Doing a 5 stud conversion. Steered away from the ti set up because they use smaller wheel bearings. I've struggled trying to get some z3 6 cylinder hubs on their own so I decided to buy new ones, £79 each.
Finally got round to doing my rear o/s arch this weekend, much trickier that the n/s. Also had to do a few inner arch patches.
Ran out of gas and wire on the welder, but thankfully I'd tacked the wing sufficiently in place. Will finish it off tomorrow.

I've got an E36 M3 Evo set up for the front end.steve_k wrote: looks good, what you doing about the front hubs/bearings?
Bought a new fuel tank (MOT advisory). I've given it a coat of Simoniz tough black on top and painted the underside with U-Pol Raptor.

Had a couple of quiet weeks but now the car is off the road I'm starting to make progress again. I've dropped the rear subframe and fuel tank ready to clean up the chassis.

This looks so exciting, I wonder what the final product will look like!!
Can not wait until i start work on mine, although i am dreading the costs ...I have the grey interior too, im wondering whether I should get it reupholstered to the tartan interior or cream...

Thanks, I'm looking forward to getting the work done and just enjoying using the car. The costs are rising on mine but with slow(ish) work progress, the buying is spread out a bit more. Wouldn't a cream interior get grubby quickly? I'll be getting a leather retrim later down the line.

It's been quite some time since I last posted an update on here. The work has moved at a glacial rate, but I've been back at it with greater enthusiam for the past 4 weeks. I've now got the back half of the chassis stripped, and treated with rust encapsulator. Just got a couple of small welding jobs to do before I reseal the chassis and start rebuilding the back end.

Cleaned up one of the trailing arms this morning with a wire brush on the grinder. They're pretty unsightly but clean up nicely. Strangely, it was dripping a bit of oily fluid out of a small hole when the arm was tipped up.

How did you damage the bearing?
Your about a week ahead if me at the minute, done a lotof the same welding as me except I've been playing with roof instead of the wings....

You should never underestimate the predictability of stupidity

I was hammering the cv joints into the new hubs. A stupid move really. Next time I'll take the trailing arms off the subframe and place the hubs on a solid surface to absorb the impact.
Appletree, I'm jealous of your welding a metal fab skills. luckily, I've not had a lot of welding to do.
