If you put the steering column shaft on the floor against the way you are turning, put a clothe or something down so you don't damage it.

And then get some big grips on the job.

They're not too tight to be fair.

Also a viscous spanner fits them aswell if you have one lying around.

My bad thought you meant tie rods not ends.

May want to add some mole grips to the tool list to hold tie rods :)

I had a nightmare with my ends... After faffing around with molegrips chewing through the metal :( I got some artic stove gas on full blast on the b*tards... job jobbed :D

I do think sometimes a fair bit of heat makes things 10 times easier on 25 year old parts...

If they've been on 25years... Then I just buy new. It recently cost me about £30 for new tie rods and ends for febi. Not worth getting heat on them

Sorted, soaked both threaded parts with Rust Byte, left them for a couple of hours.
Then laid the rack out on a flat bed Transit, two mole grips on the inner tie rods,
and managed to turn the outer ends with yet another set of mole grips.
A variation on your first suggestion Jamie. :D
Copper grease will be liberally employed in the re installation.

Any Tranny pics Rob ? Rav would like to see them when he has tired of looking at Eurovision repeats :)
